How To Make Your Artificial Tree Trunk Look Like Real Bark

I love the convenience of artificial tress, but I hate that they can look so…artificial. I found an easy and cost effective hack to help your tree look super realistic - adding fake bark around the base! These four easy steps will have your tree looking like it came straight from the real tree lot:

1. Start with your typical tree base. If you’re looking for a great quality artificial tree, check out my blog for my favorite options. The bark sleeve I use measures 8.5 x 8.5 inches, and will wrap around tree poles with a 6.5-inch circumference. It should fit most trees, but measure just to be sure.

2. Order this tree sleeve from Amazon. It’s less than $20, which is such a great deal!

3. Once it arrives, you can cut the sleeve to be the correct size for your tree. This is completely optional, though! I cut mine because I didn’t want the excess bulk.

4. Velcro the sleeve around the base of your tree. It’s a rubbery texture so if it gets dirty, you can remove it and wipe it down with a wet cloth. It’s also reusable, so don’t forget to save it for next year!

If you’re looking for extra fun things to add, throw on a tree skirt and wrap a few presents (real or empty boxes) to add under the tree! If you need a tree skirt, this is the one I use and I love it! It’s so cozy and warm with neutral vibes.

The sleeve I used is no longer sold on Amazon, but this one is similar and has great reviews (and they were on Shark Tank!).
