How To Upgrade Your Spice Storage On A Budget

I’ve been on a mission to find small projects that make a big impact around my house. Each day, I’ve tacked affordable and easy tasks that make my house look better and make me feel better! By far my favorite project so far has been my spice rack storage upgrade. This project is easy, affordable, and has this part of my kitchen looking so fancy.
Follow these simple steps to tackle this project in less than an hour:
Order your supplies.
For this project, you’ll need the spice organizing set and some kind of display. I recommend using risers or a lazy susan.
This set of spice organization kit includes 24 jars, shaker/pour caps, 2 types of labels, some blank labels with a pen, and a funnel!
I thrifted my risers, but I recommend using these wood ones because they match the jars. I opted for risers so I could clearly see the spices on the back row.
I almost used this lazy susan because I love the vibe. It would look super cute on a countertop!
Clean out your spices.
While you’re waiting everything to arrive, take the time to go through your current spices and get organized. You can clean out old spices, figure out where you have duplicates, and purchase any refills you’re running low on. Organizing now will make the filling process much faster later!
Figure out what labels you’ll use.
Once your supplies arrive, go through the labels and pick out which ones match your current spices. The labels in the set I linked also include blank sheets, so if there’s a spice you have that isn’t included you can write it on yourself. If you’re really picky about getting them on straight, using tweezers can help you place the stickers on the jar (but I just used my fingers).
Fill the jars.
The set I linked has a funnel included that makes it super easy to fill the new jars. It’s pretty easy to figure out, but my biggest tip is to not overfill. If the funnel gets too full it will spill when you pull it out of the new jar.
Set up your display and place your jars.
I placed my risers in our designated spice cabinet, but these jars look so nice that they would honestly look great on your countertop too! I’ve seen a lot of people alphabetize their spices, but we put our most used jars in the front for easy access.
And that’s it! I’m telling you this project was so easy and the payoff is huge. I keep opening my cabinet just to look at it (dare I say…it makes me want to cook??).
If you do this project, take a picture and send me photos on my Instagram! I can’t wait to see what you do.
