4 Ways I Make $100K/Year As An Influencer

When I first began posting my furniture flipping journey on Instagram, I never imagined I would be where I am today. Calling myself an “influencer” still feels surreal! But after a few viral videos, I realized I could harness the power of social media to make an income.

Now, almost all of my income comes from social media. Here are four ways I diversify my income as an influencer:

1. Brand deals. Hands down one of the biggest parts of my income comes from brand deals. On average, I get $7,000 for story promotions and $10,000 for reels. This amount varies based on engagement and account size, so I teach others how to know what to charge for brand deals based on their audience in my 6 Figure Academy course. 

2. Courses. I have two eCourses - FlipIt! With Maggie McGaugh, my furniture flipping course, and Maggie McGaugh’s 6 Figure Academy, my influencer and small business course. Although the 6 Figure Academy is a bigger investment for users, it’s also a much bigger time investment for me. My FlipIt! course is my most passive income. I found a way to make 6-figures before counting the income from my courses. The information my students get is about my genuine success from brand deals and other social media opportunities!

3. Content creation. Once you reach a certain amount of followers, you’re eligible to join creator funds and make money based on the engagement you get on posts. Creator funds are invite-only from social platforms, and are available on TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube. There’s no way to ask for an invite, so keep creating valuable content while you wait for yours! Additionally, I get a small amount of income from my subscribers - people who’ve chosen to pay $1/month to see behind the scenes content on my Instagram.

4. Affiliate links. This income comes primarily from promoting things I love on Amazon, but I also partner with my favorite DIY brands such as Melange and Zibra brushes. Keep in mind you should only promote the things you love. No one likes seeing multiple affiliate links every day on your stories.
