We recently purchased a fully-furnished home that had been abandoned for more than two decades. We’ve slowly been going room by room to modernize the space while balancing keeping some of the original character. I just finished re-doing the primary bedroom, and I have to say, I’m obsessed with the moody vibe!

As soon as I saw the stunning wood furniture the previous owners left behind, I knew it was staying. I fell in love with the rich color and gorgeous details - and I wanted to make it the main character of the room. The bed frame was original to the house, but I found a relatively similar style on Amazon so you can recreate this look!

To really make the wood pop, I decided to paint the walls a dark color. I knew everyone would be shocked when I picked the color Ink Black, a rich black with blue undertones. I could NOT be more happy with my risky choice!

To elevate the space, I painted everything except the ceiling - including the trim and bedroom door.

To keep the room moody (but not a dark cave) I added beautiful light accent pieces. This gold light fixture really modernized the room and added a ton of light.

These beige colored curtains with the gold curtain rods perfectly complimented the gold light fixture and the cream rug. All of these additions really softened up the room and made it a cozy and luxurious space!

For the bed, I kept the linens simple with a khaki colored duvet set. It’s soft, not too dark, and really ties the room together.

I’m a firm believer that the small details really help make a room, but I knew I wanted to keep this space simple because the black paint is decor on it’s own. I left a dainty gold mirror (similar option on Amazon) from the previous owners, and added simple black and beige wall art, and a rope laundry basket for texture.

All of these upgrades were so affordable and simple, and you can get all of the items you need from Amazon. Anyone can paint, hang curtains, and switch out a light. I can’t wait to reveal the rest of the home!
